August 31, 1991 – A Date in Big East Football History

In 1991, history was made by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the Boston College Eagles. In the first ever Big East football game… the Scarlet Knights defeated the Eagles, 20-13, before a crowd of 22,185 spectators at Rutgers Stadium.

There was a lot of Promise in those first two seasons… (sigh)
1991: 6-5 (2-3) beat BC, Northwestern, Michigan State
1992: 7-4 (4-2) beat Pitt, VT, and West Virginia

An archive report from the New York Times can be found here.
